Malted Chocolate and Baileys Milkshakes

May 16th

So, my dinner club meets once a month and has been for almost four years. I hosted this past Saturday night and decided to do an “Americana” theme when really I just wanted to make exactly what I wanted to eat. Someone brought an app and someone else a salad. I did burgers, fries and shakes. Because we don’t really sit down until 8:30 or so, I’m rarely able to photograph my recipes (and then post on here). I wanted to recreate this shake, though minus the garnish, because I’m still dreaming about it.

Have you read recipes that call for malted milk powder? It’s the ingredient that gives Whoppers that distinct Easter basket taste. I’d planned to use that but couldn’t find it at my local Giant – but then I spotted the box of Whoppers! With a little help from my food processor I had chocolate malted milk powder. PS you can eat this with a spoon or put it over ice cream – so good.

Malt powder in place, the rest of the shake came together quickly. I used the particular chocolate ice cream my family has been crushing on this spring, along with a shot of Bailey’s to make it grown up. I don’t think I’ve eaten a milkshake in years (mostly because, and if you didn’t know this I am so sorry to be the one to break the news, they’re calorie BOMBS). Dinner club only comes around once a month and the general idea is go big or go home. Oh and if you’re looking for a seriously rocking burger for your next barbecue, ours were:
